Live The Life You Want
As Abraham Lincoln once said, “the best way to predict the future, is to create it.” I don’t think I could have said it better myself! Imagine a world where we all supported and encouraged each other to live the life we want. To follow our dreams, and live up to our fullest potential, without interjecting our own judgements. But instead of just thinking about them, we took action and allowed dreams to become reality.
Recently Josh and I had the good fortune of meeting a very special couple on a trip to a grocery store near us. This was one of those once in a lifetime experiences that completely restored our faith into the Universe and humanity. They shared their story with us and how they planned to sell everything they owned, to live a life of adventure. The meeting reconnected us to the amazing power of intention and awareness, reminding us to always be present and open to opportunities.
We have learned that if we really want something in life, we have to visualize ourselves already having or doing it. Regardless of our circumstances, and what society says is possible, we have to believe we can do what we set our minds to.
Our lives are a string of choices that we make, and those choices shape who we are and who we will become. From birth, the dreams, goals and visions that are deep inside of us, are by no means, an accident. The problem is, we are surrounded by nay sayers – our partners, friends, parents, co-workers – people who are stuck in a routine of unconscious choices. We choose based on what society deems acceptable, or normal. As children we are so full of possibility, and as we transition into adulthood, we close ourselves off to it. Life becomes a monotonous merry go round, and we just go through the motions.
To get back to the root of our true self, we must listen to our hearts again. As we tune into our aspirations, and dreams, we create an awareness of our purpose. Sometimes, and often times, this can be a very lonely road. You may feel like no one else can see what you see. They see failure, but you see a challenge to go beyond anything you have done before. It is scary, hard work, but with persistence, you can live out even your wildest dreams.
This isn’t something that just happens over night. It is a daily practice, to follow your dreams intentionally. Dare to live the life you want. Be courageous, and give permission to others to do the same.
